80’s Elton John is a mixed bag. On the plus side, it’s Elton John. On the minus side, it was the 80’s, and everyone big in the 70’s pretty much sucked in the 80’s. Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, James Brown – you name them, they put out bad albums.
But sometimes even the synth decade can’t stop a classic. If you don’t love this one, it’s only because you’ve heard it a million times. Cookie-cutter radio has worn out many a fine song. Try and give some fresh ears to this one, and leave yourself open to some mid-career classic Elton.
