I love Radiohead, but even I was skeptical of this album. I consider it their most difficult since Amnesiac. After ripping the CD to mp3s, I skimmed through the tracks and immediately dismissed half of them as hopeless. Codex was one of them.
A few days later, I revisited the songs, and rediscovered the beauty of Codex. If you’ve ever heard this album, I can’t blame you for skipping this track, considering it indulgent filler for an already remarkably short album. But give it a chance. It wasn’t until I sat in one location and just listened to the song, nothing else, that I discovered its beauty. Sit down, set up your favorite lava lamp phone app, and try this one out.
